Improving Listening Skills of ESL Students through Web-Based Technology

Abstract:

Web-based technology has been increasingly used in language listening classes. It is consistent with the Constructivism Theories, and it is a big necessity by immersing students in a multi-sensory experience to promote their listening skills and abilities. There are many advantages about the using of web-based technology in the English listening instruction, which can be embodied by creating a multi-dimensional listening environment, stirring up students motivation and emotion, enriching language listening resources, helping students to be effective learners, and facilitating students personalized learning. However, there are still some challenges about the using of web-based technology in English listening classes.
