Measuring the Information Volume of Teaching Material in Physics and Chemistry on the Basis of the Inter-Disciplinary Connections’ Information Model

Article Preview

Abstract:

This article presents a quantitative assessment method of information volume contained in a teaching material unit. The method is based on the inter-disciplinary connections information model elaborated by Gnitetskaya T. N. The method was applied to school chemistry and physics courses for the 8th grade. The cross-curricular links object is the concept of the electron. The information volume was calculated transferred through the electron concept as well as the minimum apprehension time of the teaching material in students. As a part of the method, the article presents an example of optimizing the inter-disciplinary connections in the teaching material. The possibility of designing the curricular contents based on the inter-disciplinary connections information model taking into account information limitations is shown.
