Cyclic Pulse and Chaos in an Erbium Doped Fiber Laser

Abstract:

Cyclic pulse and chaos are produced in an erbium doped fiber laser via modulating the pump in numerical simulation. Cyclic pulsing shows under the case of different conditions. Chaos and dual-cycle are studied. And a route is found from cyclic pulse to chaos with the modulation variable. Effects of the modulation level and frequency, pump, Er-doping concentration and photon lifetime are analyzed on cyclic pulse, respectively. We find three regions of periodic pulsing, unstable periodic pulsing and chaotic pulsing.
