Abstract: Based on the support of GIS tools and land database, this paper put the LUCC theory into practice. The ArcGIS space analysis and transition matrix are used for the research of land use change of Dalian city through the 20 years’ period. Result shows that, from the year 1990 to the year 2010, enormous transformation has happened in land use type, of which the overall characteristics of transformation are reduction of wood land and grass land, with the increasing of construction land and water area. The trend of city construction area’s enlarging and agricultural land resources’ reducing is very obvious.

Abstract: Farmers’ cognition on farmland abandonment and related land system was investigated in a village of Hebei province in China. The survey shows that: (1) The rural economic environment affects farmers’ cognition and behavior of farmland abandonment; (2) Farmers’ cognition on related rural land system is poor, and most farmers have willingness to improve their cognition; (3) The ways to increase farmers' cognition on related land system are not good enough, and the propaganda contents do not meet farmers’ cognitive demands. Conclusions: The methods of improving farmers’ cognition on rural land system should be diversified, and the contents should be designed according to farmers’ characteristics and demands.

Abstract: Based on the remote sensing image data of 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2008, the transfer matrix of land use/cover change were extracted using ArcGIS software, and the paper analyzed the spatial and temporal change of land use/cover change using barycenter transfer model. Results showed that: (1) From 1970 to 2008, cultivated land had been dominated land use type, followed by water area, construction land and unexploited land, and there was small proportion of forest land and grass land; forest land, water area, construction land and unexploited land were increased, and cultivated land and grass land were decreased; the conversions among cultivated land, water area and unexploited land were more closely. (2) The study on barycenter transfer model indicated that from 1970 to 2008, the barycenter transfer direction of cultivated land and construction land was north by west, and the barycenter transfer direction of forest land and unexploited land was south by west, and the barycenter transfer direction of grass land was south by east, with the maximum distance; and that of water area was north by east.

Abstract: Chinese government has proposed the ecological civilization and requires integrate this issue into land use strategies. So the historical evolution of the land carrying capacity evaluation was first analyzed in this paper. "Population-based" and "industry-oriented" methods were then discussed. Based on this, ecological civilization-related urban land carrying capacity evaluation method is elaborated in this paper. Taking Tianjin Binhai New Area as an example, a preliminary exploration was conducted. The analysis of case studies shows it is practical to carry out the ecological civilization-related method.

Abstract: This paper evaluated the environmental burden and capacity of Dongying City by emergy and ecological footprint to provide basis for optimizing land development. The result shows that from 2000 to 2010, the land area needed to support human society expanded rapidly from 310000 ha to 735000 ha, while the environmental capacity increased from 1144900 ha to 1226100 ha, which would be caught up by environmental burden in near future according to the current trend. Pollutants assimilation is the main environmental burden and local nonrenewable resources accounting for more than 65.0 percent of the total human emergy consumption. Cultivated land and construction land are the major sources of environmental capacity. Hence the farmland and virgin land should be developed for multifunction and construction land used in a low carbon and intensivism way to promote environmental sustainability.

Abstract: Recently, by the continuous development of the urban rail transport construction, the issues of urban land use have become increasingly prominent, which requires a combination of urban land use and transport systems, so as to choose a reasonable planning and optimization strategies to promote sustainable urban development. This paper bases on Hangzhou Rail Transport Line rail and land use, with analysis of the status of spatial pattern, structure and function, raising optimization strategies for sustainable transport modes for further planning of urban space, thus, providing an important theoretical basis.

Abstract: The sharp degradation of urban ecological environment resulted from global climate change and rapid urbanization has become an important affecting factor of regional sustainable development. Low carbon city is a considerable countermeasure to solve this problem. Being an important part of low carbon city construction, low carbon urban landscape has attracted increasing interests from city managers and planners. The strategy of the low carbon urban landscape development was discussed from an ecological perspective, and the strategies of low-carbon urban landscape planning and construction were proposed, in order to provide practical reference for planning and construction of low-carbon city and low-carbon urban landscape. These strategies included selecting plant varieties, improving plant community structure, optimizing spatial structure of green space, constructing low maintenance green space, and synthesis utilization of water resources etc.

Abstract: Transect sampling method was used to measure structural attributes of landscape trees in urban green space of three city parks and one residential greenbelt in Dongguan. Leaf area index (LAI) of the landscape trees in each urban green space was determined using hemispherical photography. Average DBH (diameter at the breast height) and CW(crown width) in Wenhua Square were the largest due to the presence of heritage large trees, while the landscape trees were species diverse in Renmin Park. A comparison of LAI in the green space gave a result in descending order: Renmin Park > Wenhua Square > Jinhuwan greenbelt > Yuanmei Park. The case of Renmin Park indicated that when a green space consisted of various structural attributes, landscape trees in different growth stages tended to have large LAI. Findings of our study suggested that a diversity of trees with potentially different LAI should be selected when planning urban green space.

Abstract: Using information entropy,this paper analyzed the temporal and spatial variation of land use structure in Shandong Province from 2003 to 2008. The results are as follows:The information entropy and equilibrium degree went up and the dominance degree went down year by year. That reflects that the disorder of the land use system was strengthening, while the structure weakening, and that the types of land utilization tended to be equilibrium during the study period.
