Investigations of Thin Films Obtained by Plasma Jet Method on a Stainless Steel Used in Turbine Blades Construction

Article Preview

Abstract:

A series of alloys of iron, chromium and nickel are usually used in the construction of hydraulic turbines for producing electricity. This paper study GX3CrNi13-4, a martensitic stainless steel, as base material, and the powder type Metco 71 Ns (based on tungsten carbide cobalt) as material deposition. The material properties can be enhanced by deposition of metal layers of special materials by means of the plasma jet method [1,2]. The microstructures of thin films deposited were analyzed in Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The deposited layer was subjected to microhardness and roughness tests.
