Description: In China, the amount of deteriorating bridges is increasing gradually, andthe costs of maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of these bridges farexceed available budgets. Internationally, above issue also is paid moreattention. To alleviate this issue, the bridge engineering professioncontinues to take positive steps towards developing more comprehensivebridge monitoring and management systems. Therefore, it is significant tocombine some good works that have been done in this field, which is theoriginal objective to introduce the recent research results in the fields of bridge health monitoring, bridge maintenance and safety in the mainland of China. This project encompasses some aspects of bridge health monitoring, maintenance and safety. Specifically, it deals with: bridge health monitoring; bridge repair andrehabilitation issues; bridge related safety and other implications.

Online since: July 2014
Description: Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters BCI (WoS).
This special topic volume is a compilation of works contributed by experts from the international scientific community in the field of Wear and Contact Mechanics. This volume presents ten papers that cover different aspects of the current areas of research in Wear and Contact Mechanics using new innovative theoretical and computational approaches based on the Finite Element Methods (FEM) and/or the Boundary Element Methods (BEM). A number of topics are addressed, such as anisotropic contact, anisotropic wear, crack-face contact and semi-permeable electric/magnetic boundary conditions in multifield materials (e.i. piezoelectric solids), dynamic contact modeling, fatigue crack growth life estimation, fatigue life assessment, fretting fatigue, fretting wear computing, rolling contact modeling, or treatment of nonmatching interfaces in contact problems.

Description: Materials science is an interdisciplinary and integrated research field, concerning the relationship among microstructure, processing and property of materials. Although ceramics were anciently invented, modern ceramics are advancing rapidly, leading into new fields far beyond the conventional image of ceramics. The properties of materials, in particular ceramics, are strongly affected by processing, and thus a new processing can produce mew materials which can trigger significant development of society.
Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
The present book comprises 58 peer-reviewed scientific papers presented to the 5th International Symposium on Advanced Ceramics and International Symposium on Advanced Synthesis and Processing Technology for Materials 2013 held in Wuhan, China. This joint conference aimed to discuss on cutting edge research of advanced ceramics, providing the most up-to-date know-how of innovative processing.
