Lead Based Multi-Alloy Applied to Anode of Zinc Electrowinning

Alloy anode materials play an important role in zinc electrowinning process. Many kind of alloys can be used as anode materials, the selection of anode alloy directly influence the quality and cost of zinc electrowinning. Pb-Ag alloy anode material has been used generally in zinc electrowinning, however, it is proved the existence of many problems in practice. An important subject that new lead based multi-alloy applied to zinc electrowinning has been confirmed. Contrast testing study on the performance between Pb-Ag alloy anode plate and lead based multi-alloy anode plate was carried out on the basis of the research status, such as the output of precipitated zinc, the quality of electrolytic zinc, power consumption and anode life. It was found that when the technology of alloy-making had a breakthrough, the Pb-Ag alloy anode could be replaced by lead based multi-alloy anode under the condition that electrowinning technology was adapted, and the production costs could also be reduced.
