PRECIX, Robotic System for Residual Stress Analysis by X-Ray Diffraction

Article Preview

Abstract:

In the last years, a new residual stress analysis system by X-ray diffractions has been developed by CETIM and INEL companies. This system called PRECIX is based on an industrial 6 axis robot. The technological performance is, like a 4 circle goniometer, to set together at the end of the sixth axes an x-ray source with a conventional size X-ray source, energy and position sensitive linear detector and an embedded long distance positioning system. PRECIX is an all-in-one system including all electrical and electronic items to perform residual stress analysis. This paper presents PRECIX in detail with a contactless positioning system, a new software getting a fully transparent utilisation for the users. Internal round-robin analysis with external reference samples and different geometries parts performed are presented to compare PRECIX results and other already validated X-ray diffraction systems.
