Kim et al. [16] studied the effect of 0.4 wt.% Sc in Al–8.5 wt.% Si alloy and observed a 60% increase in the tensile strength and a 50% increase in EL due to Sc addition.
Moreover, the addition of TiB2 has almost no effect on the UTS while it has a great effect on the EL.
Without the addition of Sc content, the UTS and YS are 298.33MPa and 169.67MPa respectively, while the EL is 6.8%.
The ductility of fracture surface of alloy is persistent with its high EL as shown in Fig. 13.
Overall, 0.5 wt.% Sc with AlSi10MnMg-T2 alloy possesses higher strength and EL simultaneously.

The occurrence of defect modes in the transmission spectrum and phononic band structure of a one-dimensional phononic ASLS has been investigated by El Kadmiri et al.
El Kadmiri et al. have investigated the propagation of acoustic/elastic waves in a 1D ASLS containing segment defect, this defective structure can present defect modes inside gaps.
