Despite the discrepancy, the 5 peanut materials (12L48, Huayu 661, Huayu 662, Huayu 961 and Huayu 962) may be classified as high-oleic.
In fact, all of the 5 high-oleic peanut genotypes contained less than 6.5% palmitic acid, whereas all the normal-oleic peanut materials in the study had higher than 10% palmitic acid.
Possible solutions are creating new peanut materials through mutagenesis and transgenesis.
