Many things concerning asphalt structure are still unknown.
The elucidation of the molecular structure of NA is becoming more and more important because the conventional petroleum resources are becoming increasingly short, heavy crudes are becoming an important energy source in the 21st century due to their considerable reserves.
Hence, a great care should be taken to research on NA chemistry and organic geochemistry in the future work.
These detected organic compounds were classified into four group components: HACs, 2-MAs, PAEs and others. 2-MAs are a class of important biomarkers for the research on crude oil chemistry and organic geochemistry.
The elucidation of the molecular structure of NA is becoming more and more important because the conventional petroleum resources are becoming increasingly short, heavy crudes are becoming an important energy source in the 21st century due to their considerable reserves.

Simultaneous Reduction and Immobilization of Cr2O72- in Metakaolinite-based Geopolymer Complexed Reductant

Abstract: Reduction and immobilization of Cr(VI) as Cr2O72- is investigated by using metakaolinite-based geopolymer complexed reductant.
By comparison with the immobilization of Cr (III), the added reductants reduced Cr (VI) to Cr (III) which can be locked successfully in the amorphous structure of geopolymer.
In comparison, geopolymer with amorphous network structure, mainly constructed by aluminosilicates, hosts much better acidic resistivity, durability in nature, low permeability and high compressive strength compared with cement [16, 17].
Using this method, reduction and immobilization of chromium can be realized by one-step procedure of geopolymerization, in which reduced Cr3+ is locked in the amorphous structure of geopolymer instead of being re-oxidized.
Cr added as Cr3+ can be locked successfully in the amorphous structure in geopolymer and leached Cr concentration is lower 5 mg L-1 when initial Cr(Ⅲ) concentration is less than 1 wt.%.
