BaTiO3 belongs to the perovskite structure typified by ABO3, the most important feature
being oxygen octabhendra which are linked to form a three-dimensional lattice.
One is lead metaniobate, PbNb2O6, discovered by Goodman in 1952, belongs to the tungsten bronze structure and has a high Curie temperature, 560oC [18].
The structure, as in perovskite, has a three-dimensionally linked Nb (Ta) oxygen octahedra with three different types of interstices for other cations.
The other is the bismuth oxide layer compounds, the chemistry and crystal structure of which was established by Aurivillius [19].
Once this discovery was made, established materials chemistry and processing approaches were exploited to alter the magnitude and temperature of the PTCR behaviour to open up ever-increasing application domains.

The results indicated that the composition and structure affect the corrosion resistance of the alloys.
