Results and Discussion In this study, FTIR was used to characterize and compare the structure of lignin isolated from bagasse and synthesized lignin-Mg(OH)2.
Based on the FTIR spectra, the functional group of lignin bagasse and lignin-Mg(OH)2 structures can be analyzed.
Bagasse’s lignin shows a wide band at a wavenumber of 3413 cm-1 which is associated with the presence of hydroxyl groups in phenolic and aliphatic structures.
The modification of lignin bagasse with Mg(OH)2 give some changes to the lignin structures.
