The layers of Al and Co are deposited successively on SiO2 substrates using magnetron sputtering technique.
The screened Co and Al targets are cleaned from the oxides before deposition for 1 minute.
The sticking coefficient of the Co and Al is set to one.
The energy of the Al atoms is less than Co due to the mass difference.

Fracture toughness.GNastasi et al. suggested a method to determine the fracture toughness of a coating material by using the total work of fracture.[3] They also reported that this method could be used to calculate the true fracture toughness of DLC on silicon system, excluding the influence of the substrate on the fracture toughness.
Li el al. reported that the fracture toughnesses of cathodic arc carbon film (Ef: 300GPa) on silicon is 10.9 MPam0.5 by analyzing of strain energy release and that of the ion beam carbon film (Ef: 150GPa) on silicon was 4.5 MPam0.5.[4] Figure 6 shows that the fracture toughness of sample-2 rapidly decrease with aging temperature in the range of 350~450�U But, as shown in Figure 8, the fracture toughness of sample-2 at 300� slightly decreased with aging time.
