These low density polymer/clay aerogel materials possess good mechanical properties similar to those of traditional polymer foams, can be reinforced with fibers, modified with nanoparticles, biomineralized, or converted into porous ceramics.
Further modification by mineralization, calcination to produce porous ceramics, and many other possible post-producting opportunities exist.

Optimal Design on Clearance of Piston Friction Pair for Water Hydraulic Pump Guoqin Huang a, Jin Yub, Henglin Puc, State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission, College of Mechanical Engineering, Chongqing University, Chongqing, 400030, China ahuangguoqin@cqu.edu.cn, byj93@163.com, cphl1999@163.com Key words: Water hydraulic pump, friction pair, thermal balance, clearance, couple material Abstract: The optimal clearance formula of piston friction pair for water hydraulic pump was established based on thermal balance principle.
Water hydraulic pump is one of the most frequently used hydraulic units in recent engineering technique and its piston friction pair is a critical friction pair, which directly contacts with the water.
Experimental Verification To the seawater pump prototype [4], the piston friction pair adapted ceramic and ceramic materials, each group clearance of friction pairs were in the range of 10 ~ 14 μm by measurement.
The abnormal noise happened after 20 minutes in the pressure tests, and then we found two ceramic cylinder sleeves respectively broken through inspection, meanwhile, there were clear sliding marks on the surface of cylinder and piston.
