Materials and Methods
The VFS theory and method are the further development of engineering fuzzy set theory and method, the key contents thereof are concepts and definitions of relative membership function, relative difference function and VFS, which are mathematical language and quantification tool to describe quantitative changes and qualitative changes of things, provide new concepts for the necessity and possibility of changing model and model parameters in the fields of engineering, and thus enhance the confidence level and reliability of evaluation recognition and decision[8].

The first researching line explores the possibilities that MICP (Microbially Induced Calcite Precipitation) shows to improve the engineering properties of granular structures, to find out the most suitable proportions of urea, bacteria and calcium chloride, in relation to the weight of sand-like granular samples; in order to come out with effective cementing solutions.
Its main goal was to obtain cementing solutions for different purposes, such as improving soil stability, healing concrete cracks, building roads and paths, restoring monuments, transforming sand into sandstone… to open up multiple scenarios and use these cementing solutions in the realm of design, architecture and civil engineering, without damaging the environment.

Sources of uncertainties in different design engineering disciplines are discussed in Section 2.
Non-Deterministic Analysis Methods in Computer-Aided Engineering 1.1 Reliability analysis and RBDO.
Sources of uncertainties in different design engineering disciplines 2.1 Automotive crash and safety simulations.
Experimental Modal Analysis is nowadays a widely accepted methodology for the analysis and optimization of the dynamic behavior of mechanical and civil structures.
Subsequently, the relevance of non-deterministic analysis in mechanical and mechatronics engineering has been demonstrated on a number of engineering application cases taken from automotive and aerospace industry.
