Keywords: Crash data analysis, Crash Frequency, Poisson Regression, Negative Binomial Regression.
Crash frequency is the number of crashes in a certain space over a specific period of time, the occurrence of a crash could be associated with different risk factors, mainly the driver, vehicle, environment, and roadway, statistical models are one of the widely used tools by traffic engineers for studying the contributing factors in increasing the number of crashes in a certain location, these models can also be used to measure the performance of roadway entity, and to evaluate the effect of treatment; because a simple naive comparison between the number of crashes before and after is not suitable, so there is a need to predict the number of crashes if the treatment was not implemented and then compare it with the number of crashes after implementing the treatment.
