Experimental procedure
Materials Wheel and rail test discs were cut from railway wheel rim and railhead.
Discs were machined into the shapes shown in Fig. 1.The chemical compositions and hardnesses of the materials are given in Table 1.

Bilayer Graphene Optical Modulator Based on Metal-Nanoribbon Integrated Hybrid Plasmonic Waveguide

In order to overcome these shortcomings, researchers considered introducing materials with strong electro-optic (electro-refractive or electro-absorptive) effects, such as germanium (Ge) materials, ferroelectric materials, organic electro-optic materials, III-V semiconductors materials, and 2D materials [7, 8].
To avoid graphene chemical doping by other materials, the Al2O3 layer with a relative permittivity (ɛAl2O3) of 3.04 and a thickness of 5 nm is chosen as the insulator layer placed between the bottom graphene layer and the Si waveguide [12].
The graphene layer can be regarded as a two-dimensional homogeneous anisotropic material and modeled as a surface conductive layer with no thickness.
