Basic Assumptions Before conducting the FE analyses for the soil-pipeline interaction including the frost heave, it is necessary to outline some assumptions in order to idealize the engineering problem.
The comparison between the experimental and the numerical results indicated that the FE calculation with the idealized assumptions was able to provide, from an engineering stand point, an acceptable estimation of the results with reasonable accuracy.
