Compared to conventional turning (CT), this technique allows significant improvements in processing hard-to-cut materials, by producing a noticeable decrease in cutting forces and a superior surface finish.
In recent decades, significant improvements were achieved in turning, enhancing machining of difficult-to-cut materials and producing better surface finish.
FE model description The workpiece materials was 45 hardened steel (HRC52).

The first and the second threshold shear strain of dam materials(10-2%) Materials γt1 γt2 Main rockfill 0.085 0.96 Transient material 0.099 1.16 Filter I 0.183 1.87 Filter II 0.075 0.78 From the above table, it can be seen that, the values of two threshold shear strains are filter I, transient material, main rockfill and filter II by sort descending respectively.
The second threshold shear strain in the table 2 is about 0.0078-0.0187% for the four materials, and the corresponding was about 0.6151-0.7827.
