Titanium particulates were selected as suitable
reinforcements in this study because they had high hardness and Young's modulus compared to the
magnesium alloys used as the matrix, and also showed better ductility than those of ceramic
particles.
On the other hand, a dispersion strengthening effect is also useful to obtain not only higher tensile strength but also significantly high Young's modulus and hardness by selecting suitable ceramic and intermetallic reinforcements such as SiC, TiC, TiB2, and carbon [24].
