Analysis of weld formation mechanism and weld pool dynamic during moving laser-MIG hybrid welding Gao Zhiguo Shanghai Key Laboratory of Materials Laser Processing and Modification, Shanghai, China School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China Keywords: laser-MIG hybrid welding; weld formation; fluid flow; weld pool Abstract: In order to better understand heat transfer and fluid flow pattern in the weld pool of lasermetal inert gas (MIG) hybrid welding aluminum-alloy process, weld formation mechanism and weld pool dynamic behavior were analyzed by a three-dimensional mathematical model for moving laser- MIG hybrid welding.
Especially the fluid dynamics of the molten materials influences the local temperature distribution and consequently the weld pool geometry.
