Introduction 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate is an excellent monomer in preparing hybrid materials which possess the characteristics of organic and inorganic material[1], because it has both vinyl group which can progress free radical polymerization and siloxane group which can progress hydrolysis-condensation reaction.
The hydrolysis-condensation reaction of siloxane group is: Condensation reaction The character hydrolysis-condensation reaction of siloxane group can be concluded two main applications: on the one hand, hydrolysis reaction can produced Si—OH groups, which can improve materials’ hydrophillic nature[2] and cohesional strength by forming chemical bond with OH bond of surface of other materials; on the other hand, the main chain Si-O-Si prepared in the hydrolysis-condensation reaction possesses the property of suppleness, this property makes organosilicon polymer take on many excellent traits, such as good weather resistance and heat resistance, lower glass-transition temperature and surface free energy and so on.
