However, due to the high price, the Ag and Au as the noble metals do not attract much interest in engineering.
Currently, aluminum and copper are the most widely used metals in electrical engineering and the electronic industry [5].
To develop novel Fe-containing Al alloys for electric auto components, the high Fe content becomes essential to satisfy the engineering requirement for high strengths.
Hence, the research and development of advanced and cost-effective manufacturing technologies is essential to minimize the effect of the Fe content on the castability, quality and performance of Fe-containing Al alloys with both high electrical conductivity and strengths.

Abstract
The early-stage oxidation behavior of γ'-Ni3Al-based alloys of composition (in at.%)
Ni-22Al and Ni-22Al with 10, 20, and 30Pt was investigated in terms of oxidation kinetics, scale
evolution and resulting composition profiles during heating to 1150ºC in air.
Recently, much attention has focused on Pt-modified bond coatings for advanced thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems [1] and the benefits of Pt in improving the spallation resistance of the Al2O3 scale that forms on these bond coatings [2- 4].
Forum, Vol. 461-464 (2004), p. 213
