Mason et al. [15] stated that heat transfer per unit of mass decreases as the aspect ratio of fuel particle decreases which in turn increasing the volatiles burning time.
Corrêa Bisognin et al. [17] investigated that the spherical shape achieves the highest heat transfer coefficient in fluidized bed due to the minor changes in the hydrodynamics of combustor resulted from this shape.
The effect of particle shape and size on combustion characteristics of single biomass particles was investigated by Momeni et al. [19] who studied the ignition, devolatization, and burnout of spherical and cylindrical biomass particles with different aspect ratios.
