Introduction Different techniques are nowadays available for the production of Al-Si parts.
Al-Si alloys have become also very popular Al alloys for applications in the laser-based powder bed fusion process [5].
Concerning the tribological behavior of SS hypoeutectic Al-Si alloy, Dey et al. [12] compared the wear performance of A356 alloy produced by rheocasting and gravity casting.

In 1996, Yoshida et al. [3] presented the first paper describing the semi-solid behavior of cast iron in the semi-solid range, which was followed by several papers about die filling [4, 5, 6].
In 2003, Tsuchiya et al. [7] presented the most complete paper on this subject, ranging from the production of raw material to the semi-solid process, as well as the final mechanical properties of the thixoformed product, demonstrating the potential of this technology.
