In 1996, Yoshida et al. [3] presented the first paper describing the semi-solid behavior of cast iron in the semi-solid range, which was followed by several papers about die filling [4, 5, 6].
In 2003, Tsuchiya et al. [7] presented the most complete paper on this subject, ranging from the production of raw material to the semi-solid process, as well as the final mechanical properties of the thixoformed product, demonstrating the potential of this technology.

According to Benardos et.al. [4], surface roughness of drilled FRP composite was influenced by cutting tool properties (tool material and geometry), machining parameters (feed rate and cutting speed), workpiece properties (hardness, lay up sequence) and cutting phenomena (vibration and lubricant).
Khashaba et. al. [6] have investigated the influence of spindle speeds, feed rate and drill diameters on machinability of woven GFRP in drilling process.
