The FTIR spectrum [Fig. 2] shows the cellulose functional groups present in the extracted MCC, in which the peaks at 1428, 1314, 1028 and 896 cm-1 are the usual peaks for cellulose [12].
In addition, the peak at 1028 cm-1 is sharp and narrow due to C-OH stretching, indicating high cellulose content, whereas the peak at 896 cm-1 is due to the β-type glycosidic linkages present in cellulose [11].
