LCA is a process of evaluating the environmental impacts associated with a product, process, or activity by: identifying and quantifying the energy and materials used and the wastes released to the environment; assessing the impacts of those energy and material uses and releases to the environment; and identifying and evaluating opportunities for environmental improvements [9].
All emissions, energy consumption, materials and cost are based on this functional unit.
