In order to overcome the long term health problem caused by the release of Al and V ions from these alloys [1,2] as well as stress shielding related to elastic modulus that is still inadequately large as compared to that of the surrounding human bone [3-5], novel -type titanium alloys with greater biocompatibility, lower elastic modulus and better processability have been developed in the past decade [6,7].
For example, based on direct observation of grain rotation during tensile test, Shan et al. estimated that grain rotation rate would increase by 4 orders-of-magnitude when grain size was reduced from 60 nm to 6 nm [42].

McCullen et al. [48] fabricated electrospun nanocomposite meshes by encapsulating MWCNTs in poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA) fibres.
Wang et al. [30] investigated the mechanical properties of CNT-enhanced (0-2 wt. % F-MWCNTs) chitosan films.
Meng et al. [79] fabricated PEU/MWCNT films by precipitation of nanotubes in the polymer matrix, followed by solvent casting.
To the authors' best knowledge, MacDonald et al. [82, 83], and Voge et al. [84] alone examined CNT-collagen constructs in terms of gel compaction, electrical conductivity, and cell proliferation at different SWCNT loadings and time points (up to 7 days).
