It gives a comprehensive picture of nanoscience and nanomaterials. This volume will provide the latest and in-depth coverage on nanomaterials and their applications.
The Ferrite term is used to refer to all magnetic oxides containing iron as major metallic component. Ferrites are very attractive materials because they simultaneously show high resistivity and high saturation magnetization, and attract now considerable attention, because of the interesting physics involved. Typical ferrite material possesses excellent chemical stability, high corrosion resistivity, magneto-crystalline anisotropy, magneto-striction, and magneto-optical properties. Ferrites belong to the group of ferrimagnetic oxides, and include rare-earth garnets and ortho–ferrites. Several new hard and soft ferrites, garnets and their composite systems have been developed during recent years, with very large potential applications, which include bio-sensors, targeted drug delivery, magnetic imaging pigments, anti radar coating, microwave components, transparent magnetic plastics, etc. From physical point of view, ferrites present an extremely interesting class of systems with challenging problems. Hence this special volume was prepared with focus on some of these topics of interest to university researchers and entrepreneurs in industry.
With the rapid development of industry and information technology, researchers in all fields begin to discuss some new ideas connected with materials science and manufacturing technology. The collection covers topics of current interest in material science.

International Conference on Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering 2012,
November 20 – 21, 2012, Malaysia. The conference offers
a platform for researchers, academicians, technologist, policy makers,
industrialists and students to share, discuss and highlight their research
findings particularly works that related to research and technological
developments and knowledge transfers keeping in mind the main theme
Sustainable Engineering towards Green Technology
The development of new materials with specific properties is discussed such as metal hydride systems. Other active areas of research include in this volume is the surface engineering to locally enhance properties: electro deposition, electrostatic spray assisted vapor deposition (ESAVD) and aerosol assisted chemical vapor deposition. This includes creating metallic glass coatings with high strength and corrosion resistance, cermet coatings with good wear resistance, as well as functional thin films and Nano composite coatings. The work presented here is characterized by a synthesis of experimental research and numerical modeling of the mechanical behavior of materials at different length scales, and the application of models developed to analyze structural parts.
International Conference on Engineering Materials for Electronics, Communication and Construction 2012 (EMECC 2012) was held on Aug. 25-26, 2012, Hangzhou, China. EMECC was initially created by a network of researchers and engineers both from academia and industry in the areas of material science and mechanics engineering. The goal of EMECC 2012 is to bring together researchers from the academia and practitioners from the industry in order to address fundamentals and applications of material science and mechanics. The conference provides a forum where researchers shall be able to present recent research results and new research problems and directions related to them. The conference seeks contributions presenting novel research in all aspects of new advanced methods for material science and mechanics.
This volume summarizes the most important results of the ongoing research in the Center of Excellence on Applied Materials Science and Nanotechnology at the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Miskolc, Hungary. The primary goal of the research activities is the extension of the knowledge available for materials exhibiting special properties.
