Description: Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
Recrystallization and grain growth, together with phase transformations such as precipitation, are the fundamental processes of microstructural evolution which take place during the thermomechanical processing of engineering materials. They are of major scientific interest and are of great importance in a wide range of industrial applications. One of the main goals of this two-volume set is to show how to cover the entire set of reactions governing recrystallization and grain growth during industrial processing – termed through process modelling.

Description: The II International Materials Symposium is a scientific forum which discusses advances in the science and technology of materials, and is organized by the Portuguese Materials Society. The II International Materials Symposium followed a series of bi-annual national and international conferences that began 20 years ago and has became, since 2001, an international forum where scientists, engineers and technologists working in the fields of Materials Science and Engineering discuss their recent results and exchange ideas and information.

Description: The present volume contains selected papers from the 12th Grinding and Machining Conference, held in China (GMC 2003).
Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
This collection presents a selection of over 250 papers, submitted to the conference by many universities and industrial concerns. All of the papers were subjected to peer-review by at least two expert referees. Moreover, fifteen papers on high-speed machining were specially selected by Dr. Ning He, a full professor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), from papers submitted to the International Conference on High Speed Machining, which is organized by the NUAA and will be held in Nanjing from March 31st to April 2nd, 2004. These papers have been selected for the present volume because of their quality and the fact that they cover the main topics of the conference.

Description: This book contains the proceedings of Symposium L of the International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies, held from the 1st to the 6th of July , 2001 in Singapore. The aim of this important meeting was to bring together researchers and engineers having very different backgrounds, and thus promote free discussion and the exchange of ideas across many interdisciplinary boundaries.

Description: Like the previous conferences in this series, POLYSE '98 covered many aspects of polycrystalline semiconductors. Whereas earlier proceedings had included many contributions on basic research, for example on the structural properties of single grain boundaries, later proceedings had included more articles on solar cells and thin-film transistors, seemingly marking a transition to a more technology-oriented conference. However, the contributions to POLYSE '98 show that the POLYSE-series is again bringing together researchers from basic research as well as engineers working on devices.
The 84 papers cover topics such as: beam-induced currents, thin-film silicon, silicon crystallization, oxide semiconductor films, chalcogenide and spinel films, chalcopyrite films, thin-film junctions and devices; thus providing an extensive survey of the most recent results in polycrystalline semiconductor research.

High performance materials are needed in many thermomechanical applications, such as advanced jet engines or gas turbines, thermal protection of space planes, thermal engineering and nuclear fusion. Ceramic-matrix composites, reinforced with long fibers, are expected to be the most promising candidates for such applications. However, several key problems will have to be solved in the near future. These problems include, above all, the development of a superior thermomechanical performance and oxidation resistance for ceramic fibers and composites, highly efficient protection against corrosion, better fiber/matrix interface design and performance, and cost effective processing.
