Abstract: For the wide application in the field of filtration and bio-medicine, the purpose of this study is to design a spinneret module of electro-spun which can produce composite nonwoven with sub-micrometer fiber continually. Applying the principle of melt-blown, a spinneret module with line-type and multi-holes which was assembled with small beads and filtering net, was designed. In order to construct a continual electro-spun production line, a traversal device was designed to control the traverse-motion of spinneret module for the even lapping and a stainless plate was adopted as collecting plate. In condition of 41KV working voltage, 0.3573 mL/min throughput and 42cm CSD (Capillary-Screen-Distance), a continual PEO nonwoven can be produced with average fiber diameter of 576nm and of CV% 13.4%. To a sampling area of 10cm×10cm and basis weight of 7.257 g/m2 electro-spun nonwoven, the CV% of gray level of its image is 2% and its filtration efficiency is up to 91.2% with pressure drop 13.8mm-H20 by TSI 8130 (32LPM, 5% NaCl).

Abstract: This paper studies and implements “high efficiency power management system and intelligent battery-set charger system” for “the Intelligent Servant Robot”. This power management system provides high quality and efficiency electric power supply for all subsystems of the servant robot and accurately estimates the residual capacity of battery set system of the servant robot. This servant robot will be charged by the intelligent battery-set charger when the residual capacity of battery sets is insufficient. This servant robot can take the elevator, follow the user, carry articles, and provide the service of campus security patrolling and monitoring. LiFePO4 batteries are chosen as main power supply of the servant robot. The LiFePO4 battery-set system is divided to two subsystems which are the power battery-set (36V/20AH) for motors and the system battery-set (48V/10AH) for PC and MCUs, respectively. High efficiency power management system can measure the basic information (voltage, temperature, and current), provide protection, and give alarm for battery-set system. For the power converter module design of the intelligent battery-set charger, the main structure will use the boost power factor corrector to cascade the full-bridge power converter. The former mainly offers the power input of the high power factor, and the latter adopts the soft-switching and synchronous rectification technology in order to improve its electric conversion efficiency. For the construction of two-stage controllers, the single digital microchip controller is adopted to avoid the interference of high frequency switching of traditional power structure which uses two microchips. The experiment results have demonstrated: 1. the battery-set system can provide over two hour operation of the servant robot continuously. 2. the power management system can accurately estimates the residual capacity of battery set system. 3. the lithium-ion battery protection circuits can cut off the power apply and give the warnings when the battery set is operating under abnormal status. The battery charger allows 110V or 220V input voltage and provides the biggest 20A current to charge battery set. The power battery set can charge up to 90% capacity within one hour.

Abstract: We live in a visually intensive society. Visual symbols are one of the most important keys to communication in the design field. Usually, the symbolic meaning of artwork is closely related to its historical background, culture, socio-political environment and economic constructions. This study aimed to investigate two women designers in the Avant-Garde era, which applied cultural hybridity to their art works and managed to stand out in their field, which was dominated by male designers. We will take Clarice Cliff and Sonia Delaunay as the core cases to analyze and collaborate. As we know, these two women designers are two important fashion designers that represent different styles in design history. Their works glorify symbol in the rhythmic relations of its simultaneous contrasts. In addition, both of their styles were influenced by the merge of divergent cultures. Thus, the primary design of this study focuses on hybridity in symbol and sign. We tend to understand how cultural elements have inspired these two designers’ fashion works in visual communication. The reason why we take these two women designers as the main analytic subjects is because of their uniqueness, which represents one interpretation of the awareness of Avant-Garde production. By using Bricolage and Phenomenography as the main methodologies, and the use of Third Space Identity and Hybridity as our research theories, through an analysis of papers and cases, we hope to explore the symbolism and meaning represented by these two designers from design and culture perspectives.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore creative color teaching activities and their value in education. To understand the teaching method used in color science in university foundation design courses and to lead students to comprehend their own culture in application of design, the study explores solutions and strategies from the perspective of the curriculum. The study is based on the concept of action research used in a course the researcher conducted for half a semester. This study proposes to develop the color sensitivity of students, and to inspire their cultural consciousness for creative color ombination. The conclusion has three principal aspects. First, for curriculum design, the course should integrate issues to explore culture. Students could search for the mark of culture in daily life and flexibly apply their five senses to enhance their observation in color exploration and materials application. Second, for teacher tutorial, teachers should encourage hinking in every step and provide comments or direction. Teachers could implement teamwork activities to motivate the students to be inspired in their creativity. Third, for student learning, in observing culture, self-examination and group participation are essential tools in discussion. Feedback can motivate students to learn, encourage diversity in their abilities, and reach a wider field. The research suggests that chromatics foundation curriculum design should emphasize the importance of course structure and the combination of activities. Connecting the local color survey properly could raise the capability in analyzing a larger project. Moreover, self-examination transforms into the sensibility of cultural aesthetics, and develops the sense of good taste. It arouses the strength of color application, broadens range of knowledge and depth in professional development. Eventually, the learner can develop practical design talents in color acuity and observation.

Abstract: In Taiwan, the motor and autobike industry have a considerable extent to promote the manufacture of shock absorber tests. As it is known, using a software and equipment to process the information about the operation of a corresponding damper is necessary. In order to promote the shock absorber damping tester, to develop the Labview based shock absorber testing machine provides functions such as the hardware test, setup parameters, the measurements for test elements, the testing results display and historical consults. There are some researching steps are involved by making out the major operations and testing functions to construct the shock absorber tester and so on. The expected purpose will be attained by both training the relative process technology and getting the future development in absorber testing know-how by native manufacturers in Asian area, instead of imported machines from Japan or America.

Abstract: One of the most crucial factors in a design organization is the contact and communication that is to be maintained with its clients. Most often, design organizations are confronted with communication problems due to the attitudes and perceptions of their client’s design as well as their communication expectations. This study on “Design Communication and Conveyance in Project Plan” intends to underline the importance of a designer's role and working methods in the development of a design and will help improve design communication problems faced by design organizations. The study also throws light on the importance of the deep involvement of a client through frequent communication in the design process in order to maintain the essence of the project. When the goals set by the organization cannot be accomplished in the traditional way, the plans of the project play a considerable role. A business organization, in order to complete a particular project or job from various departments will require the professional and technical personnel involved in the plan to setup a temporary task group that is responsible for dealing with the plan or operation. In design practices, the communication between design managers and designers forms a cyclic phenomenon that is coined by the term CAFE which stands for "Comprehension", "Adaptation” and "Fit-IN" three-stage cycle in order to maintain an "equal" state. Design communication and conveyance are two essential factors when it comes to achieving design goals. The design of communication is affected by the four elements, namely, organization of architecture and design 3P (Project, Process and People). Being a key role in the design of communication, a key figure in the "contact window ", "sender" and "coordinator" is called "a design communication conveyance". In design communication and conveyance in project plan, this study will explore the concept, the difficulties, influencing factors, the types of categories and the framework. Keywords: design communication, project plan

Abstract: As the generation changes, the wide variety of information available has sparked a lot of creativities in the new generation of users. The users expect to modify or successively design the products after purchase according to their own creative needs. “User creativity orientation” becomes a focus in new product development. Products which facilitate user’s creativity can be viewed as a creativity platform. The development of software in this aspect has been going on for years, while the research and relevant discourses on physical products are still lacking. This study proposes a development model of User Creativity Platform (UCP) for physical products, which includes eight steps: (1) User creativity needs exploration, (2) Functionality classification, (3) Primary and secondary components development, (4) Creativity-friendly interface design, (5) Design prototyping, (6) Creativity potential confirmation, (7) Intellectual property protection, and (8) Implementation. According to the proposed model, a set of the storage furniture has been developed and successfully granted invention patent. The model opens up a new dimension for designers to develop a user-friendly interface for user creation, rather than merely for user assembly. The feasibility of the model was also validated on the flexible furniture and toy design for pre-school kids.
