Oscillatory Calcium Concentration Designed through pH Dependent Equilibrium

Abstract:

On the basis of pH dependent CaNa2EDTA complex formation equilibrium, spontaneous periodical oscillation of calcium concentration is realized through the coupling of the equilibrium with the Iodate-Sulfite-Ferrocyanide (ISF) reaction system in continuous stirred tank reactor. The effect of temperature, flow rate and acid concentration on ISF is investigated to seek better oscillation performance. The influences of CaNa2EDTA concentration and external illumination on the Ca2+ oscillation are also discussed.
