Abstract: The cyclic oxidation behavior of Co-10Cr-5Si alloys with and without Y in atmosphere at 700 °C was investigated. The addition of 0.3 at.% Y decreased the average parabolic rate constant from 4.39×10-10 g2cm-2s-1 to 3.42×10-10 g2cm-2s-1. The surface components with and without Y were both composed of an outer CoO and inner protective SiO2. There were more SiO2 formed when Y doped into the alloy. The addition of 0.3 at.% Y improved the cyclic oxidation resistance of the Co-10Cr-5Al alloy.

Abstract: A New emulsion type paint was prepared by utilizing polyol for the production of polyurethane by reaction with an isocyanate was obtained by the synthesis of palm oil-based oleic acid with glycerol. Dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA) was used as catalyst and emulsifier. The various methods for preparing Polyurethane /clay nanocomposites, but in this research the author choice by a pre-polymer method and were evaluated by fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra to determine micro-domain structures of segmented PU. The molecular weight (MW) of polyol was obtained by using gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and the result was about 950. The micro domain structures of the segmented PU were analyzed by FTIR by following the work of Seymour, et.al. to estimated the degree of phase separation in segmented PU. The formation of hydrogen bonding by C=O group can be determined by examining the peak position at 1709 cm-1 for hydrogen bonded C=O and at 1731 cm-1 for free C=O. The molecular weight (MW) of PU based on palm oil was about 3.266. The performance characteristics of materials indicate to be comparable with the corresponding industrial standard.

Abstract: A series of such composites of poly (vinyl alcohol) and short-cut rice straw were prepared by hot-pressing method at different water medium amounts. And the effects of medium amount on the strength, elongation and hardness of composites were studied. Results indicate tensile strength of composite prepared with 5 mL medium is 119% higher than that with 10 mL medium at formula of 18 g rice straw and 12 g poly (vinyl alcohol). And this kind of strength difference is 98% higher at formula of 15 g rice straw and 15 g poly (vinyl alcohol). Elongation at break is 17.85% when 5 mL medium, 12 g poly (vinyl alcohol) and 18 g short-cut rice straw were used. However, it reaches 21.46% when 10 mL medium was used. The hardness fluctuation range shows no difference when preparation conditions were changed. But samples prepared with 5 mL medium roughly show higher hardness than that prepared with 10 mL medium.

Abstract: The quantum-confined Stark effect on the optical absorption of intersubband transitions in an asymmetric AlxGa1-xN/In0.3Ga0.7N/GaN quantum wells is investigated by means of the density matrix formulism. The built-in electric field generated by the piezoelectric and spontaneous polarizations competing against to the external electric fields is considered. As the result, the influences of the built-in and external electric fields on the energy potentials and the eigen stares are discussed in detail. When the positive external electric field is applied, the peak values of the absorption coefficients from 3-2, 2-1 and 3-1 transitions are reduced and moved to the lower photon energy levels. With the negative field, the exactly opposite results can be obtained. Moreover, it is indicated that the results of the wavelengths from the 3-2, 2-1 and 3-1 transitions are reduced by the positive external electric field and increased by the negative field.

Abstract: Ionic liquid containing alanine cations and hydrogen sulfate was synthesized using alanine and sulfuric acid as materials. Fourier Transform Infrared Specctrometer was used to verify the final product. The results showed that the objective product was developed successfully. General properties of the final product were detected. The results showed that strong acidity, large viscosity, soluble in polar solvents and insoluble in nonpolar solvents were the products properties which were suitable for liquefying. The liquefaction rate of ionic liquid on pine was studied. Study the optimum liquefaction condition using the method of orthogonal experiment design. By stirring at 120°C for 2 hours using ionic liquid with the concentration of 80% and with the mass ratio of 30, liquefaction rate of ionic liquid on pine was high.

Abstract: Adding inhibitor is the main method to control the metal corrosion in closed and open cooling water tank. The effect of single cooling water inhibitor is poor, generally adopted compound inhibitor. The inhibitor is a kind of compound inhibitor. The applicability of inhibitor is well, the request is not high. The corrosion inhibition is good in water which hardness < 20mmol/L and Cl-< 70 mg/L. So the tap water or well water can use directly.

Abstract: LaF3 nanoparticles were used as an additive to improve tribological performance of base oil stock. Their surface modifiers were prepared by a precipitation method, using two kinds of salts from dioctyl-dithiophosphoric acid and piperidine or di-(β-ethoxyl) stearamine. Morphology and structure of LaF3 nanoparticles were investigated. The tribological behaviors of these solid-containing lubricating oils were measured by using a conventional four-ball machine. Wear scar surfaces on the test steel balls were examined by instrumental analysis to elucidate the anti-wear mechanism.

Abstract: Combined with the correlative parameters of a certain commercial vehicle, the change of brake forces match and the effect on vehicle’s brake stability was analyzed when using hydraulic retarder. In order to avoid the trend of rear axle sideslip, there is a limited brake torque for a commercial vehicle with fixed parameters. Then the state of the commercial vehicle was simulated using MATLAB, obtaining the allowable maximum hydraulic retarder gears at different initial brake speeds. The results indicate that when vehicle’s actual brake forces distribution value is changeless, this method can decrease the trend of rear axle sideslip for two-axle commercial vehicles equipped with hydraulic retarders.

Abstract: Electromagnetically-driven valve (EMVA) represents one of the most important developments in camless engines, which can realize unthrottled load control. An AVL-BOOST simulation model for a camless engine equipped with EMVA is built up and validated by the experimental results. The performance of the camless engine is simulated, and the intake performance and pumping loss are determined. The results of research show that the mass flow of the camless engine can be controlled by changing the intake valve opening duration, so that the load is controlled. They also show that the pumping loss can be reduced and the fuel economy can be improved during part load.
