Abstract: A proposal for the seismic consolidation of an existing r. c. social housing complex is presented. The intervention is thought to concern just the external facades in order to minimize costs and discomfort of inhabitants. Two external hybrid steel-glass bracing frameworks have been designed, with the aim to reach both seismic and energetic advantages. The mechanics of the framework system takes advantages from the compressive strength of the glass panels and the tension strength of steel braces and columns. A hypothetical application on a typical r. c. building dating back to the ‘60s in the city of Leghorn (Italy) is illustrated.

Abstract: In this paper, a meshing scheme for shear-wall structures is developed based on the paving method and associated with the mapping and geometry decomposition method. The present method would combine the advantages of free mesh, such as strong generality for complicated structures, and mapping mesh, such as outstanding efficiency for some specific geometries, and result in the following four merits: (1) theoretically suitable for arbitrary shear wall and slab; (2) the mesh is compatible, i.e., the adjacent boundary of the shear-wall and slab has identical nodes; (3) all or most of the elements are quadrilateral which is important for finite element analysis; (4) the mesh is uniform and homogeneous, and the transition between different mesh size would be automatically smoothed. Finally, some meshing examples for complicated building structures are presented to illustrate the validity of this meshing scheme.

Abstract: In order to adapt to the development of housing industrialization and the construction of energy-saving emission reduction requirements, research and application of precast concrete shear wall structure is becoming the hotspot in structural engineering. The DiJie international city B Neighborhood Project No. 8 residential building the form of engineering structure for precast shear wall structure. According to the practical application of prefabricated wall panels, balcony board, air conditioning board and stairs in residential projects, Introduced the key technology of component production, installation, cast structure node connection construction process using prefabricated in shear wall structure. In order to provide the reference for precast concrete shear wall high-rise residential design in the future.

Abstract: This paper presents a study on the effect of input noise on the detect index of structural damage. The main procedures include that, for some structures with small damage, the different dynamics response are obtained under the given input function and various input noise level, and then, the structural damage index is constructed using the energy spectrum of the sub-signal decomposed by wavelet analysis. Results show that the relationship between the different input noise level and the damage index is nonlinear, and some optimal signal/noise ratio can be found in order to obtain the most sensitive damage index to small structural damage.

Abstract: Because of the predominance of construction techniques, a solid knowledge of reinforced concrete principles and rules is necessary and crucial. This study focuses on a comparative studies of different sizing standards, the Euro Code 2,the Egyptian Code 203 and the Algerian Code 93 for a rectangular reinforced concrete section subjected to simple bending in limit states and is well supported on one hand by one of the determining factors in design and on the other hand by the economy and security. The comparison of sizing standards in the limit states will assist the designer in their choice of a suitable design code.

Abstract: Based on wavelet transform of strain mode, the damage identification of plane frame was studied in this paper. After solving strain modal parameters of plane frames with cracks by means of the finite element theory, applying the gauss2 wavelet transform to analyze the stain mode of plane frame, and denoising the wavelet coefficients of the strain mode by db3 wavelet, the crack location of the plane frame could be identified by the maximum of wavelet coefficients after denoising. Taking one-story plane frame for example, three finite element models, including a frame beam with a crack, each frame column with a crack, and each frame beam and column with a crack, were set up separately, then the above-mentioned method was applied to identify the location of the crack. The results show the method is effective, and it may be useful in damage identification and diagnosis in structures.

Abstract: Based on the piezoelectric impedance technology, damages in concrete specimens could be monitored. The structural damages were simulated by pasting piezoelectric ceramic chips and boring several holes on the surface of concrete specimens. And then, with the precision impedance analyzer HP4192A, we measured the conductance spectrum curve of the specimens. The specimens were in two different damage situations:one was damaged in one place to varying degrees and the other was damaged in different locations to the same degree. The experiment results show that the damages in the specimens can lead to the drift of the conductance spectrum curve and the greater the damages are, the greater the change will be.
