Abstract: This paper introduces a comprehensive economic model, developed for the assessment of nanomaterials production and application under the international SHYMAN project. Its major challenges include uncertainties relating to estimates of future demand for particular materials and final products, as well as accession of new commercial applications and reactions of competitors. These are being addressed by the innovative combined use of life cycle costing and real option appraisal within the framework of a statistical simulation model.

Abstract: Planning the production capacity is an intricate and multi-phase undertaking, which consequently leads to the optimal selection of the means and resources that are appropriate for a given enterprise. In this paper, the application of mathematical methods in the planning of production for an enterprise in the sector of SMEs has been presented, which implemented innovative technological solutions in the manufacturing process. Finally, comparative analysis was carried out on the basis of the mathematical models created, which facilitated the definition of the changes in the production possibilities both prior to and following the implementation of innovation.

Abstract: Modern cars consist of approximately thirty thousand parts and components; their assembly in an assembly plant is preceded by the supply via an optimally functioning supply chain. Ramification of this chain depends on a car model and equipment; however, the number of direct and indirect suppliers often reaches approximately one hundred and more. That is why perfect mutual cooperation among these suppliers is required while applying the logistic, managerial, as well as information methods to increase the efficiency and eliminate the production down-time. Over the past years, number of events forced major car manufacturers to reassess the supply chain flexibility in high-risk situations. The main objective of this study is to identify weak, high-risk sides of the supply chain and assess them applying the AHP method which represents an efficient tool of multiple-criteria decision making.

Abstract: The primary focus of this study is on theoretical and empirical analysis of selected directions of innovative activities carried out in enterprises. The significance of these problems is connected with the role performed by innovations in improving and maintaining competitiveness in enterprises. The investigations presented in the study focused on the importance and manifestations of innovativeness of enterprises as well as highlighting contemporary characteristics of innovations. The empirical part of the study analyzed innovative activity of enterprises based on such criteria as level of outlays on innovations incurred by the enterprise, equipping the enterprise in means of production processes automation as well as the level of technology transfer and using the technology. The empirical examinations were carried out based on the data contained in the Statistical Yearbooks published by the Central Statistical Office for the years 2008-2012.
