Abstract: Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is a famous university of science and engineering in China which locates in Hangzhou of Zhejiang province. This university has more than 100-year history. It was named as Zhejiang Institute of Silk Engineering before which was famous for its textile engineering. In 1897, Lin Qi who was the governor of Hangzhou proposed to found an agricultural education institution in Hangzhou and then he founded the Sericulture Academy which was the predecessor of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. From the Sericulture Academy to Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, textile education in this school gradually developed which was a typical sample of China.

Abstract: The textile periodical in modern China recorded all aspects of textile industry on specific historical period which was an important way for us to learn the modern textile industry. Textile Industry was one of the modern textile periodicals. It was published by the alumni association of Textile College of Nantong Institute which was the first higher textile education in modern China. It was published for nearly ten years from April 1931 to June 1940. By researching information about Textile Industry, Textile College of Nantong Institute and its alumni association and articles about Lei’s high draft published on the Textile Industry, this thesis would conclude and summarize the importance of Textile Industry. By learning its importance on textile periodical, textile education and textile research, we could learn more information about modern textile history.

Abstract: Accompany with the attentions in the international antique collection and auction market on Chinese embroidery, the knowledge of judgment, estimation, and evaluation is urgently needed to restore the historical imagination and the pursuit of aesthetic modernity. Researches of Chinese embroideries are mainly focused on the description of the history, pattern, stitches, styles and genres. Very few researches are about the market requirement and characteristic of collection and auction in the earlier stage. This article studied the auction catalogues and some historical documents of J.C. Morgenthau Co. in the early twentieth century. The situation of the antique market was outlined through classification and the dating records of the Chinese embroideries. We also found that the embroidered paintings had long been given more attention than the other embroidered art the similar as today. Further and more research works are needed for the potential market of the other historical Chinese embroidered art.

Abstract: This paper explains that the origin of the technique of cotton cultivation in China needs further demonstration according to historical data and archaeological materials. Although the specific time quantum can’t be inferred concerning the spread of cotton in China, but it is clearly demonstrated that in ancient China, the technique of cotton cultivation in the southwest district, mainly about shrub ceiba, is earlier than that in northwest district which is largely based on Levant cotton.

Abstract: From the perspective of consumer’s different fabric demand, application operational research of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for candidates of the fabric to choose the best. Dust coat fabric, for example, the optimal choice as the target layer of fabric, with fabric bending stiffness, elasticity and thickness, permeability index, thermal resistance as the criterion layer, according to the research of the typical multiple dust coat fabric for plan layer, dust coat fabrics of hierarchical analysis model is established, combining quantitative and qualitative indicators, structural optimization selection of fabrics of judgment matrix. Consumer’s demand determines the weights of criteria layer, candidate fabric corresponding criterion layer of the experimental data as a basis of criterion for solution layer weight. Using the matlab language to calculate and design the interface, so as to realize the intelligent optimization selection of fabrics.

Abstract: Fabric shape style is one of the most important conditions in textile appearance evaluation, and also the main factor influences customer purchasing psychology. At first, the previous fabric shape style evaluation methods are classified and summarized, measurement and evaluation method discussed from tactic and dynamic aspects. Then, companied with computer vision principle, a non-contact method for measuring fabric shape style was put forward. In this method, two high-speed CCD cameras were used to capture fabric movement dynamically, fabric sequences image were obtained in this process. Used the image processing technology include pretreatment and feature point matching to get 3D motion parameters, it can provide data supports for shape style evaluation.

Abstract: Sector is an important part of Chinese elements. This work elaborates on the origins of sector and its endowed connotations, cultural significance and unique characteristics. The application of sector in product and costume design is also introduced in this study. While discovering the unique artistic charm and profound cultural connotations of sector, this work aims to explore its distinctive national flavor and its contribution to modern costume design, which provides fresh ideas for designers.

Abstract: Making weaving scheme by orthogonal analysis method, this study has three factors: the raw materials, blending ratio, the weaving structure. We did five tests about the samples such as the moisture permeability, antibacterial properties and elastic recovery rate and so on. Finally, using the fuzzy mathematical analysis method to analyze data, draw a conclusion that the Cleancool fabric blended with polyamide on75:25 fabricated with 1+1 false rib has the best hygroscopic quick-drying, anti-bacterial and odor-proofing properties, it’s suitable for seamless sports fabrics.

Abstract: This paper analyzes the use of Design Elements of Chinese-style Clothing Brand with SWOT analysis in four aspects: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Four brands were selected as Case Study: SHIATZY CHEN, SHANGHAI TANG, TANGY and JINZHIYUYE. The SWOT analysis shows that four main points should be concentrated on. Firstly, constructing a stable market is important. Existing market should be consolidated and potential market need expanding. Secondly, paying attention to design and technology is crucial. We should carry forward traditional elements and also use western draping. Thirdly, seeking balance between market and design is valued. The most valuable design followes the law of market segmentation. Finally, creating unique brand culture that embodies Chinese traditional design philosophy and aesthetics is imperative.
