Abstract: Isothermal kinetics studies of thermal-induced gelation for epoxy functionalized poly(vinyl acetate) emulsion and diamine were investigated rheologically. The change in the viscoelastic material functions such as elastic storage modulus, G’, viscous loss modulus, G” and complex dynamic viscosity, η* during the gelation process was evaluated. The isothermal gelation kinetics was also analyzed using an isoconversional method that was based on replicated experimental data and model-free kinetics calculations. This isoconversional method evaluated an effective activation energy.

Abstract: The cytotoxicity and anti-influenza virus (IFV) activity of calcium or zinc alginate fibers were investigated to explore the feasibility of them to be used as biomaterials. African Green Monkey kidney cell (Vero) and human cervical cancer cell (Hela) cultured with alginate fibres were used to screen cytotoxic effects. After 48 h, MTT (3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazol)-2,5-diphenyl-2H tetrazolium bromide) assays were performed. Then cytotoxicity was evaluated with six grades according to cell relative growth rate (RGR). In anti-IFV activity assay, IFV were added to all fibers and the Vero cell survival were detected by MTT assays with calculating the percentage of protection. The cytotoxity of calcium alginate fibers on Vero were grade 0 or 1 in contrast to zinc alginate fibers which was grade 0. The cytotoxity of calcium or zinc alginate fibers on Hela were grade 0. Furthermore, partial calcium or zinc alginate fibers could promote Vero or Hela cell growth. In antiviral assay the highest percentage of protection of calcium alginate fibers was 34.42%, while that of zinc alginate fibers was 59.42%. The results showed that calcium or zinc alginate fibers had a good cellular biocompatibility and the large weight zinc alginate fibers had a better anti-IFV activity than calcium alginate fibers, which is potential for tissue engineering.

Abstract: The proto-machine-made sand is a new artificial material for environmental protection with grain size smaller than 5 mm made of water cleaned crushed stones or gravels broken and separated by machines, in which the stone powder maintains as prototype and certain content by improving the production technology. The paper introduces a series of test results of grade C50 concrete mixed by proto-machine-made sand with stone powder in mass content of 3 %, 7 % and 13 %. Based on the cubic compressive strength of concrete at different ages of 3 d, 4 d, 7 d, 14 d, 28 d, 56 d, 90 d, 120 d, 150 d and 180 d, the developing regularities of strength affected by the content of stone powder are analyzed, the formula for predicting the cubic compressive strength of concrete at any ages is proposed. It is proved that the effect of stone-powder in proto-machine-made sand on concrete strength is virtually different from that of the stone powder mixed with powdered mud in ordinary machine-made sand, and the limit value of stone powder content lower than 5 % is not suitable to proto-machine-made sand for mixing concrete with grade of C50.

Abstract: Curcuminoid is an important natural product, but it is water insoluble, and sensitive to light, pH, solvent system, and oxygen. The inclusion process of curcuminoid-β-CD complex was investigated by the orthogonal experiment, and the stability of curcuminoid-β-CD complex was studied under different conditions. The results show that the encapsulation rate is 87.34% under optimized conditions of temperature 50 , time 1.5 h and material ratio 1:30(wcurcuminoid : wβ-CD). The stability of curcuminoid-β-cyclodextrin complex increases compared to curcuminoid. Therefore, the complex formation of curcuminoid with β-CD is an effective method to improve the stability of curcuminoid.

Abstract: This paper provides a detailed description of deep-sea pipeline steel developed at Wuhan Iron and Steel Company(Group), WISCO for short. The thickness of the trial produced plates is 28mm. The chemical composition of low C-high Mn-Nb-Ti with proper content of other alloys and thermo-mechanical controlled process were applied. The results show that the deep-sea pipeline steel developed at Wuhan Iron and Steel Company has a good match of high strength, low temperature toughness and excellent deformability with fine uniform microstructure. The LSAW line pipe manufactured by JCOE method has high strength, good low temperature toughness and low yield ratio which comprehensively meet the requirements of the South China Sea Liwan pipeline project.

Abstract: A natural lectin from the seed of peanut Arachis hypogaea was purified by singlestep affinity chromatography using galactoside-coupled agarose. This lectin was named PN-L and its inactive form had a molecular mass estimate of 29 kDa. The lectin PN-L was detected for agglutinating activity, glycoinhibiting action and thermostability. The influence of pH on those activities was also tested. The results showed that PN-L could not agglutinate three kinds of human erythrocytes. But it showed a strong affinity for human A/B/O erythrocytes (RBC) by neuraminidase treated. Agglutinating activity of PN-L to neuraminidase treated human O erythrocytes was inhibited by lactose , raffinose, melibiose and D-galactose. The agglutinating activity of peanut seed lectin was inhibited at temperatures greater than 55 and at a pH less than 5 or greater than 11.

Abstract: Processing bamboo fiber by rolling bamboo is a main methods in bamboo fiber making. However, present the basic research for making bamboo fiber by rolling are rarely work. In rolling method, plastic property of bamboo and rolling force are important factors. In this paper, strength property variation of moso bamboo with different moisture content after alkali treatment were studied. Based on the HILL-Tsai Strength theory, the yield condition of bamboo under rolling load was found. The research provided a theoretical basis to found mechanical model of rolling method in bamboo fiber making.

Abstract: we introduced a fast, specific, and sensitive sensing probe to detect Toxoplasma gondii DNA based on mechanism of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), and a multifunctional and magnetic-fluorescent CdTe/Ni quantum dots (mQDs) was prepared as energy donor, and BHQ2 was used as energy acceptor, respectively. CdTe/Ni mQDs were synthesized with a more simple method using Ni nanoparticles as core material and CdTe as shell material. The sensing probe was fabricated through labeling a stem-loop Toxoplasma gondii DNA oligonucleotide with CdTe/Ni mQDs at the 5′ end and BHQ2 at 3′ end, respectively, and the resulting sensing probe can be conveniently isolated and purified with a common magnet. Properties of mQDs and sensing probe were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and fluorescence spectrum (FS) methods. The TEM data demonstrated that the size of Ni nanoparticles was estimated to be ~10nm, and size of CdTe/Ni is 15nm. XRD data showed similar spectrum of CdTe and CdTe/Ni, intensity of Ni (111) typical diffraction peak was detected, which inferred the formation of CdTe on surface of Ni core. An obvious fluorescence recovery (FR) was observed when the complete complimentary target Toxoplasma gondii DNA was introduced comparing with the target DNA with one-basepair-mismatch, this result revealed the sensing probe has high sensitivity and specificity. The current sensing probe will has great potential applications in the life science and gene diagnostics.

Abstract: Ordered mesoporous silica SBA-15 with controlled pore size and wall thickness was synthesized using polypropylene glycol (PPG) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as different additives. The final samples were characterized by low-angle X-ray diffraction, N2 adsorption-desorption and transmission electron microscopy. The SBA-15 used PPG or PEG as additive all could maintain the two-dimensional hexagonal structure. The addition of PPG could expand the pore size and decrease the wall thickness and the addition of PEG could reduce the pore size and increase the wall thickness of SBA-15.
