Study on the Treatment Effect of Ammonia in Landfill Leachate by Recirculation

Article Preview

Abstract:

To study the treatment of domestic solid wastes in a landfill by leachate recirculation treatment, simultaneous comparative tests with and without recirculation were conducted. Test results indicate that the relative removal rates of CODCr and ammonia from the leachate with recirculation are 33.7% and 30.3 respectively, and some of the toxic substances are also removed. The removal mechanism of ammonia is the effect of anaerobic ammonia oxidation. The removal of ammonia and the other toxic materials can facilitate the subsequent biochemical treatment of leachate.
