Abstract: The experiment of the hardness property for 65Mn spring steel under different heat treatments is conducted. The results are discussed based on the regression orthogonal design. The hardness property of 65Mn steel has been discussed by applying diverse heat treatment technology and the optimum parameters of heat treatment for the best hardness value are obtained through experiments. The influence of the parameters on hardness property is studied by applying the regression orthogonal design. The relation between the hardness and diverse heat treatment parameters has been given by using planar figure. The optimum heat treatment parameter for maximum hardness ability is obtained as following: 851.4°C for quenching temperature, 18 min for quenching time, and 146.4°C for tempering temperature, respectively. The result showed that the selection of material heat treatment process parameters has a great influence on the hardness of the material, which will provide a reliable basis to further study the wear resistance of material.

Abstract: Reliability of equipment of the oil and gas industry is vital, whereas on pipeline transmission system, decreasing the integrity of the pipeline is generally caused by corrosion. Failure that occurs due to corrosion deterioration influenced by the environment within a certain time, and has exceeded the nominal thickness of the pipe so there is a failure. This study used the reliability analysis approach based on modeling corrosion degradation ratio that is determined by the amount of the corrosion rate externally and internally. Using the Weibull probabilistic distribution method, results that the reliability of pipeline will decrease with increasing lifetime. It was identified that internal corrosion has a major contribution to the remaining life of pipeline. From the calculation results obtained by external corrosion has the greatest reliability over 60 years, followed by internal corrosion less than 30 years and the least is by cumulative corrosion which is less than 20 years. From the value of reliability, it can be known probability of failure (POF) which is the anti reliability.

Abstract: There is a need to re-vitalize science and technology education to suit today’s world. The specific aim for this study is to determine how school science in early years of schooling impacts on years 11 and 12 science studies in the areas of materials science, and subsequent further tertiary studies. Public education records were investigated to obtain post hoc enrolment data to establish trends and decline in enrolments in physics and chemistry in the final years of high school which revealed a trend in enrolments falling over a ten year period. The student population in science of physics and chemistry were not well prepared for future studies and are a challenge for students undertaking engineering and technology studies at a tertiary level. It is proposed that primary and high school science subjects be made more popular by integrating popular aspects of materials in everyday life, so making science an appealing part of the syllabus. Initiating these syllabus changes will enhance the way science subjects are taught to encourage studies into engineering.

Abstract: A class of networked control systems (NCSs) with time varying uncertainty in the plant was investigated. A new kind of stochastic communication logic based on the current value of the estimation error was proposed. Some new criteria for the asymptotical stabilization of such systems have been established. The asymptotic stability condition of the systems was established by Lyapunov theory. A numerical example was demonstrated the efficiency of the obtained result.

Abstract: In the present paper the effects of different loading procedures on the response of rate-sensitive inelastic materials are analysed. The elasto/viscoplastic model problem is developed by taking advantage of the postulate of maximum dissipation in order to derive an associated formulation of the evolutive laws. A non-dimensional loading program parameter is introduced which accounts for the loading procedure and the intrinsic properties of the material. An appropriate solution method is applied and specific numerical examples are reported so that the implications due to different loading programs on the inelastic behaviour of rate-sensitive materials are suitably illustrated.

Abstract: According to the research of existing triaxial testing machine of deep rock, a new test chamber with temperature-hold and pressure-tight is developed. The features of test box are as follows: a new kind of axial displacement test system with outer embedded type is designed for measuring the axial displacement of samples correctly; the circuit of oiling system is used to keep temperature and pressure; it’s convenient to take down the test box from the machine and the other functions of testing machine are not affected. So the availability factor of instrument can be improved. Finally, the thickness of cylinder wall is calculated, and according to the modeling and finite element analysis based on ANSYS, the results show that the cylinder can meet the working requirement.

Abstract: New lightweight material has been applied in the vehicle manufacture of the raised speed and high speed train. In order to strength the intensity of the vehicle, some stiffeners were designed on the vehicle top. In strong cross wind, stiffeners would change the flow field distribution of the vehicle top. Phenomenon of the flow separation would occur on the part of area. In order to study the aerodynamics effected by stiffeners in cross wind, the aerodynamics performance of the 300km/h high-speed vehicle have been calculated by FLUENT when there were stiffeners on the vehicle top or not. Result obtained shows that in cross wind, the side force and the overturning moment of the vehicle with stiffeners will increase; it is greater than those of the vehicle without stiffeners. The increase values are 52.94% and 39.49%. And the lift force of the vehicle with stiffeners has some drops.

Abstract: The flow field of lubrication film under the bottom of the slipper is analyzed particularly. The velocity in different points of the lubrication film on the bottom of the slipper is solved based on the premise that the rotation and self-rotation of the slipper has been taken into account of. This paper puts forward that regular concaves converging along the radial direction be set up in the cyclic zone of slipper’s bottom surface to enhance the lubrication effect and improve the overwear situation in the peripheral parts of the slipper.
