Abstract: The functions of applied potential to the photoelectrocatalytic degradation process of methyl orange were investigated. When using 0.05 M NaCl and under different applied potentials, the degradation rate increased obviously with increasing applied potential. When the applied potential was between 0.6 V-1.0 V, the degradation rate was enhanced drastically. The detected current values got larger as the applied potential increased from 0 up to 1.2 V. There was no direct electro-degradation to the dye in the solution. The applied potential and the irradiated light had synergetic effect when they were applied to the solution at the same time. While after irradiation for 0 to 60 min, with the increasing reaction time, methyl orange absorption peak intensity shrank obviously. The azo and benzene groups in methyl orange degraded totally under photocatalytic process.

Abstract: In this work, a 5 mm diameter 13Cr-2Ni-2Mo stainless steel shaft was quenched by induction heating by using a 15 mm diameter coil and the influence of the induction heating process on the material’s microstructure and mechanical properties was investigated by laser confocal scanning microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Vickers hardness testing. Through the heat treatment process, the hardness increased two-fold and the XRD pattern changed indicating occurrence of martensitic transformation. Based on these results, it is concluded that induction heating can be used as a quick method of hardening 13Cr-2Ni-2Mo alloy steel.

Abstract: This paper presents the design and application of fuzzy neural network control system for the rotary cement kiln system. Due to the dynamic characteristics and reaction process parameters are with features of large inertia, pure hysteresis, nonlinearity and strong coupling, the fuzzy neural network controller combining both the advantages of neural network and fuzzy control was applied. The fuzzy neural network is an adaptive control process whose parameters can be adjusted by learning algorithms automatically which is aimed to eliminate the shortcomings of conventional control methods. The main control system structure includes mainly the pressure control loop, the burning zone control loop and the back-end of kiln temperature control loop. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the control scheme with satisfied dynamic performances on response time and overshoot.

Abstract: A simple solid phase extraction procedure for adsorption and preconcentration of manganese(II, VII) in environmental water samples has been proposed prior to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The procedure presented based on quantitative recoveries of manganese >95%. In this work, the potential use of eggshell membrane(ESM), a typical biomaterial, as solid-phase extraction (SPE) adsorbent is evaluated for analysis of trace manganese. The analytical variables, pH, flow rate, sample volume, elution, coexisting ions for optimum recoveries of manganese (II) and manganese (VII) were investigated. The preconcentration factor was 60. The detection limit (3) of manganese was 0.031 ng L-1. The relative standard deviations of determination was found to be 3.21%. The procedure was successfully applied to the adsorption and determination of manganese in environmental water samples.

Abstract: The paper uses data in 2010 for 11 cities of Zhejiang. Cluster analysis of SPSS is used to analyze the employment structure deviation for the 11 cities. The results show that the degree of employment structure deviation is different for different regions. Since the deviation may cause adverse effect on economic growth in the long run, government should fully consider the regional difference, and work out measures to suit local conditions, so as to improve the effect of policies to lower down the deviation.

Abstract: Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings have been used to improve friction and wear resistance performance in a variety of applications. Recently, a full-metallic pipe joint was developed for pipelines and pressure vessels. Since both pipes and gaskets can be made of AISI 316L stainless steel, this pipe joint is considered as a promising solution for hydrogen applications. It has also been pointed out that relative positions and contact conditions of the contacting parts, which are formed during assembly, have significant influence on the sealing performance. In the present study, the authors apply DLC coating on the contact surfaces in the pipe joint in order to improve the friction behavior so that a reliable sealing area can be easily achieved. Contact traces on the gaskets have been measured to evaluate tribological performance of the proposed method.

Abstract: This part analyzed GFRP rebar’s research situation, summarized its behaviuor as internal reinforcement for concrete structures. The research has been developed over recent years, however the rules and standard codes for design RC concrete structures with these rebars not consider that the internal reinforcement can work in compression. This paper presents the development of the research to get a new kind GFRP rebar for work as internal reinforcement of concrete structures, with an innovative design for work both in tension and compression, and their mechanical properties: strength, bond,…

Abstract: In order to establish an optimal combination of materials used for polymer thrust bearings, two types of components (polyetheretherketone (PEEK) races - polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) retainer and PEEK races – PEEK retainer) were tested by rolling contact fatigue. Their wear properties were investigated and it was concluded that using a PTFE retainer, the wear loss was improved due to PTFE wear debris attaching to the wear track and acting as a lubricant.

Abstract: A mixture of TiO2 and HZSM-5 zeolite was used for adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of an azo dye, Active Brilliant Red X-3B. ABR X-3B adsorption on HZSM-5 zeolite is quite small although the amount of HZSM-5 is as many as 0.5 g/l. Photocatalytic degradation of ABR X-3B on HZSM-5 is less than 5% after 90 min of irradiation. When the adding amount of HZSM-5 is 300 mg/l, the maximum decoloration rate on the mixture reaches 88.1% that is 22.7% more than that on pure TiO2. The variations of adsorption and photocatalytic degradation on the mixture are not large with changing of HZSM-5 amount from 0.05 g to 0.6 g.
