Research on a Novel Environment-Friendly Synthetic Material Based on Sludge
Abstract:
This study prepared a low energy consumption and environment-friendly synthetic material without modification, which was capable of removing ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N) and phosphorus (TP) in the water effectively and at the same time maintaining high mechanical strength. The best mixture ratio of synthetic material was investigated. The results showed that with a mass ratio of 1:2:0.05 for cement, zeolite and microwave-treated sludge, the water-cement ratio of 0.4 and a volume ratio of 1:60 for foaming agent to water, the 7-days compressive strength of this material reached 5.8 MPa, which met the strength requirement of related demonstration projects. Meanwhile, synthetic material manifested effective adsorption capacities and showed a maximal adsorption amount of 0.23 mg/g for NH4+-N and 0.32 mg/g for TP. The pseudo-second-order kinetics model was found to fit the NH4+-N and TP adsorption processes well.
