Abstract: A repair method for damaged parts based on laser robot system is proposed. First, to obtain 3D point cloud in the robot coordinate system, damaged part surfaces are scanned with binocular stereo vision system, including camera calibration and image matching. Secondly, with the point cloud data and laser processing parameters, system accomplishes path planning, generates robot programs. Experimental results show that system can effectively achieves 3D reconstruction and path planning, which further enable high precision remanufacturing.

Abstract: The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of various parameters on rapid prototyping parts during the process of sintering metal powder by using fiber laser. In order to minimize the percentage of porosities of rapid prototyping (RP) products, sintering a mixture of three metallic powders are investigated. Three metallic powders which are used in this research are Cooper, Iron and Nickel (particle size of Cooper is 5μm, Iron is 70μm and Nickel is 70μm). In addition, control factors and their alternate levels-two levels with 48 run experiments will be identified. The Design of Experiment (DOE) and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) are used to analyze the results of modeling process. After the ANOVA, a regression model predicting percentages of porosities under various conditions was developed when the traditional Taguchis approach failed to identify a feasible model due to strong interactions of controlled factors.

Abstract: A higher strength and heat resistance are increasingly demanded from the advanced engineering materials with high temperature applications in the aerospace industry. These properties make machining these materials very difficult because of the high cutting forces, cutting temperature and short tool life present. Laser assisted machining uses a laser beam to heat and soften the workpiece locally in front of the cutting tool. The temperature rise at the shear zone reduces the yield strength and work hardening of the workpiece, which make the plastic deformation of the hard-to-machine materials easier during machining. The state-of-the-art, benefits and challenges in laser assisted machining of metallic materials are summarized in this paper, and the improvement of tool life is discussed in relation to laser power, beam position and machining process parameters.

Abstract: Nowadays, as a fast moving consumer good, beer is not male-dominated good anymore. Post 80’s and 90’s generation has crept into it and become a young potential market. In the context of this new market pattern, it calls for urgent consideration and solution to design unique product packaging that can meet visual needs of most young consumers and win huge success of market competition in current situation.

Abstract: Existing intelligent vacuum cleaners were found to have inadequate suction and power consumption issues in addition to an undistinguished appearance. Therefore, this studys aim was to explore and improve the functionality and appearance of intelligent vacuum cleaners. Based on TRIZ theory, this study conducted a function analysis of intelligent vacuum cleaners and established a proposal for improvement. By combining the 39 engineering parameters with the TRIZ contradiction matrix and 40 inventive principles, appropriate rules were chosen to improve the problem of innovation. At the same time, through patent review and analysis, a design method which did not infringe on current patents was developed. In the results of this study, the vacuum cleaner was complied with an innovative UFO-like design, with suction ports set around the chassis to increase cleaning range and efficiency. When the battery power is below the minimum requirements for optimal performance, the vacuum cleaner can automatically return to a charging stand and replace its own battery. This study also designed the joystick and buttons of the remote control to resemble a cute alien for improved aesthetics. In conclusion, this study used Pro Engineering software to design a vacuum cleaner like UFO and a remote controller shaped like an alien, and a rapid prototype machine was employed to create a product prototype.

Abstract: This paper presents a multifunctional landscape hedge trimmer. It has 6 degrees of freedom, and it can trim the shape of flat, cylinder, cone, sphere, etc. The controller takes the embedded LINUX ARM9 processor as the core. It has a high-speed real-time online interpolation function, and an error compensation function. With the help of the developed control software it can control the trimming process automatically, making the trimming speed faster and the precision higher, and with its single-person operation feature, it greatly reduces the labor intensity and improves the labor efficiency.

Abstract: In view of the highly randomness and uncertainty in the working condition of crane, take bridge crane as the research object. Firstly, based on the technology of the internet of things, the load capacity and the number of work cycles would be recorded, and the fatigue stress spectrum would be formed. Secondly, based on the Miners fatigue damage accumulation theory and the rain-flow algorithm, the equivalent stress amplitude would be obtained. Thirdly, curve regression model has been used to characterizing the relationship between the crack propagation and equivalent stress amplitude, and predicting the current crack size. Lastly, taking the predicted value of the crack size into the fracture mechanics formula, and estimated the remaining fatigue life of the bridge crane. The example demonstrated that, it is simple and practical to apply the techniques of the internet of things and the regression forecasting to the data collection and crack size prediction; it not only be able to estimate the remaining fatigue life quickly and accurately, but also be able to overcome the drawback of requiring the initial crack size in the fracture mechanics.

Abstract: In this paper, the marks on the concave keys used as guide keys duplicated by machine which has the function of profile modeling was analyzed systematically by experiments. In the experiment, the research concentrated on following aspect, the distinguish between mark on the concave key duplicated by machine with the producing mark and the using mark, the regularities of distribution and emergence probability of the characteristic marks on the key duplicated. The experimental research indicates that there are distinctive marks on the keys when normally used and when used as guide keys. The marks formed on the region that profile modeling needle touches in the process of duplicating have distinguishing characteristic. Therefore, the method is put forward that the examination of concave key can reveal distinctive marks whether the key has been used as a guide to create another key, it will be very useful to estimate criminality and analyze criminal scene.

Abstract: This paper gives the detailed and step-wise procedure for designing and fabrication of the indoor remotely controlled Airships. The methodology is a systematic collation of various design approaches and concepts, which were studied during the ongoing design and field trial exercises related to remotely controlled airships at the Lighter-Than-Air Systems Laboratory of IIT Bombay along with some other commercially available airships. A methodology for arriving at the dimensions of fins from static stability conditions along with its attachment on the envelope surface is presented. The paper also focuses on the design, shape and materials used for the envelopes of airships along with the fabrication process of the same. This paper also emphasizes on key design issues related to gondola (fuselage) viz., design, shape and attachment to the envelope.

Abstract: The work Port State Control (PSC) lets ships more and more comply with the relevant international conventions by checking and mandatory correction or detention. In this paper, based on the PSC data of Taiwan ports in the past nine years, mathematical statistics method is put forward to analysis the association between ship type and deficiency, which could provide PSC officers with constructive recommendations.
