Abstract: This paper focuses on information-driven engineering, where information is gathered by means of innovation for people and by the people. This case study was carried out on innovation of a manual wheelchair. Through active participation of person with disability (direct users) and their carers (indirect user), knowledge awareness of the early design was increased. Computer aided engineering tools were used for the development of virtual prototype (VP) and after further feedback from direct and indirect users design was adjusted. Additionally, Physical prototype was built to practically demonstrate the new features to users and finally the prototype was readjusted to bridge user requirement even more. This innovation process identifies additional improvement aspects and contributes beyond fundamental personal needs and increases well being.

Abstract: The Direct Iterative Surface Curvature (DISC) airfoil design method developed by NASA Langley, which is one of the inverse design methods, is robust and effective. In order to determine the target pressure distributions of airfoils, this paper used the uniformed B-spline interpolation for the parameterization of the target pressure, and a Genetic Algorithm (GA) was used to optimize the coordinates of the control points of the B-spline functions. Two cases were given to prove the effect of the DISC design method. A laminar flow airfoil was then designed using DISC after a target pressure had been determined by a GA. Results show that the DISC method based on target pressure optimization using GAs is pretty effective.

Abstract: Evaluation of product form can't take aesthetics as the only standard, because people's experience of product form is complex. Manufacturer performance, man-machine performance, aesthetic factor, etc, should be considered. In this paper a multivariate index evaluation model for product form is structured integrating manufacturer performance, aesthetics and man-machine performance. By combination of AHP and Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to measure the three main indexes and all sub-indexes of product form quantitatively, the subjection vector of all indexes relative to evaluation set and the comprehensive evaluation value are calculated. Then the form schemes can be classified into different grades and sorted. At last, by application on car interior, the reasonableness and feasibility of this method is proved.

Abstract: The calculation methods of transverse load distribution coefficient based on beam system theory include hinge method and rigid connected beam method. The calculation process is complicated and can usually be used through special tables. However, the traditional tables for ten beams can not satisfy the design requirements with the development of transportation. Therefore, a series of simple and practical analytical formula are proposed based on finite difference method. A numerical simulation of simply supported beam bridge is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results reveal that the proposed method possesses favorable accuracy.

Abstract: Through the analysis of the interaction between the development of the world economy as well as the economic system and the resources and environment system, this paper describes the concept of the green circular economy. Green circular economy is the basis of sustainable human survival and development, while design manufacturing of green products and green recycling industry is the two most important aspects of a green circular economy system. Only the two aspects develop coordinated can maximize the achievement of sustainable development strategy.

Abstract: This paper suggests a way to build a modular adaptable design platform integrating modular platform and parameterized platform based on SolidWorks. We can make adaptable design by reconfiguring, upgrading general modules and replacing special modules on the platform. This platform is built with the top-down method, taking the main frame of the waste detection equipment for an example. And it integrates a set of subsystems, such as product module library, module call, BOM generation, etc. This paper also gives the realization methods by Visual Basic 2008.

Abstract: This article discusses the significance of new green materials to fashion innovation, interprets the foundational function of green fabric becoming the magic weapon of fashion innovation. Around the main point of this article, analyzing the diversity of new green materials, pointing out that this diversity is both the diversity of fiber and fabric style, as well as expression of the diversity of art. In fact, green concept leading to fashion innovation actually is a blending of people consciousness and new materials, through texture re-creation technologies and artistic expression, green concept will give green fabric new era style and make fabric style having a soul.

Abstract: To reduce noise transmitted by natural soundproof windows, two measures are usually adopted: changing window materials and structures. One of the researches is how to achieve ventilating and acoustic proof effects through changing the window structures of high buildings when ordinary materials are used. In this research, it is studied how to achieve both effects through installing top intakes and small acoustic barriers on bay windows, so to put forward new directions to the research of natural ventilating soundproof windows. In the meantime, it is aimed at providing new solutions to improve sound environment of high buildings through the practices in real construction cases.

Abstract: Under the development of the social scientific technology, it endangered the environment by the developed mechanism and mass-product which produced many wastes. People should review the design, especially the way of patchwork design. More and more people appreciate the modern fiber art design works which including the patch work design. So, it applies a more expansive space for design developing course. In the thesis, firstly it researches on the fiber art currency and property. Secondly, study the innovative ideas of the patchwork design thought. Lastly, it applies an inspiration on the patchwork design method which based on the sustainable development theory.
