Liquid-Free Approach for Alignment of CNTs Bundles via Electrostatic Field

Article Preview

Abstract:

A liquid-free approach was developed to align carbon nanotubes (CNTs) bundles composed of oriented CNTs. Electrostatic field was applied to the CNTs bundles at ambient environment. The proper dispersion and alignment of CNTs bundles was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Vertically alignment feature of CNTs bundles with one end embedded in film substrate could be observed. An analysis of the polarization-driven force between electrodes is considered to explain the CNTs bundles aligning process.
