Hemra et al. [27] found the compressive strength of geopolymer sample increased from 45 MPa to 57 MPa with cordierite addition from 0 to 30 wt%, and the reason may be that it trended to reduce the volume fraction of porosity in geopolymer matrix and created network structures of cordierite which provided mechanical interlocking in the geopolymer composites resulted in the strong interaction between the matrix and particles dispersed phases.
Under UV radiation, the composites remove MB by a combination of adsorption and photodegradation, without deterioration of the geopolymer structure or the photoactive Cu2O component, suggesting that these geopolymer composites should function as useful new materials for the removal of organic pollutants from water or the atmosphere.

Provided steel chemistry and process routes compatible with high-volume mass production can be devised, new economic grades of free-machining steels could be developed.
It is thus likely that the graphite structure becomes more perfect with time and further growth (consistent with the observations described below with respect to Fig. 4).
In addition, the final structure of the smaller spheroidal nodules suggests uniform radial growth, with an increasing level of orderly arrangement of the graphene layers from a near-amorphous graphite core to a surrounding mantle considerably more graphitic in character (Fig. 4(b)).
Fig. 7(b) compares surface roughness of drilled holes and is fairly consistent with the wear comparisons shown by Fig. 7(a); graphitising from a bainite structure is again close in performance to leaded free-cutting steel.

The non-woven fabric is made from polypropylene broadly defined as sheet or web structures bonded together by entangling fiber or filaments mechanically, thermally or chemically.
Reinforced concrete experiment Most buildings and structures are made of reinforced concrete members, so a cracking experiment with RC member is significant.
The structure of the steel bars is shown in the Fig.4.
Fig.4 Structure of the test beam There were two electronic strain gauges attached to stirrups, one was attached on the stirrup near the middle of the borehole (No.1), and the other one was attached near the bottom of it (No.2).

At least 3 samples were tested and the minute quantitative differences of the water evaporation between the controls and carbonated samples due to the pore structure changes were supposed to be negligible.
Finally, the pore structure was studied with a Micrometrics Autopore III 9420 porosimeter at a contact angle of 130.0° and surface tension of 485 din/cm2.
Fig.3 TG & DSC curves for the controls and carbonated samples Porosity and pore structure The pore parameters and pore diameter distribution for the controls and carbonated samples are given in table 3 and Fig. 4 respectively.
The optimization of pore structure resulted from the formation of CaCO3 during the accelerated carbonation contributed to the mechanical strength improvement of steel slag bricks.

Pure titanium undergoes a transition from a hexagonal close-packed structure (α-phase) to a cubic structure (β-phase) at 883°C.
It remains in this crystallographic structure until melting at 1672°C [3, 4].
The reason for this was found in inhomogeneous material structure.

As tubular structures, they have unusual capillary properties.
Theoretical calculations of their electronic structure indicate that single-walled carbon nanotubes are either metallic conductors, or semiconductors, depending on the diameter and helicity of the individual tubes.
Because of their mesoscopic structure, carbon nanotubes may exhibit quantum effects arising from their small diameter (≤10nm). [2-8] Recently, synthesis and investigation of electrical properties of composites based on polymer matrices and graphitized carbon species, including CNTs, are very popular topics in the field of materials science, and therefore, are of theoretical and practical interest.
Because of their mesoscopic structure, carbon nanotubes may exhibit quantum effects arising from their small diameter (≤10nm).
In order to modify the surface chemistry, the carbon nanotubes were subjected to an oxidation treatment before surface activation.

These narrow bands of the soft structure without any precipitate feature a lower resistance to plastic deformation than the rest of the matrix structure and will induce rapid nucleation and growth of voids.
Especially, the effect of chemistry was carefully investigated considering microalloying with Nb, V, Ti or a combination of these, with the concurrent effects of Al, N and C [4-15].
The interrupted tensile tests were performed by using an experimental setup that allowed a rapid heating of the samples and their rapid quenching right after straining, in order to "freeze" the steel structure existing at high temperature just after straining for microstructural analyses.
Small cracks can be identified in the steel structure, especially in the steels A and C2.

Sol-gel chemistry is based on the hydrolysis and condensation of precursors.
As a result, their network is too dense to obtain a good porous structure.
X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns were recorded on a BRUKER AXS: D8DISCOVER system using Cu Ka radiation to analyze the crystal structure.
When calcined at 900°C (unshown), the Si-O-Si bands, however, are sharpened and shifted to higher wavenumber, indicating the formation of dense silica structure.
The base-catalyzed photographs show tightly-packed and uniform silica particles when calcined at 600°C due to the sintering effects, which produce the mesoporous structure.
