The samples have a polycrystalline porous structure.
However, due to high correlation between profile parameters and lattice parameters it was impossible to resolve the two structures.
Considering the ionic radius in unit cell of GGG it is expected that RE 3+ ions enter the structure replacing the Gd3+ ions.
A careful inspection, however, showed that most of these areas have only a superficial compact laye,r which masks the porous structure underneath.
