In this study, the effect of electroless Ni-P plating on the fatigue strength of dilute Al-Si alloys was investigated.
Especially, as Al-Si alloy has an excellent casting characteristic, and can be fortified by adding other elements, most of aluminum alloys for casting and die-casting uses are Al-Si alloy based.
In this study, we examined how the fatigue strength of Al-Si alloys change when treated with non-electrolytic nickel-phosphorus plating.
Experimental Procedures The alloys used in the experiment were of compositions Al-1.0 and 1.2%Si, which were produced by melting, and casting 99.996% Al and 99.999% Si in a high purity alumina melting pot in the atmosphere.
This table indicates that the tensile strength of FC specimen and AG specimen increased by Table 1 Variation of tensile strength, σb and fracture elongation, El of the Al-1.2%Si specimen by plating. 10% after the plating.

Then the strength will begin to decrease with further increasing of the aging temperature and reach the lowest point when aged at 600℃; Different from the changing trend of the strength, the elongation (El.) and reduction of area (RA) decrease with the increasing of the aging temperature when the aging temperature lower than 540℃.
Both El. and RA will reduce to the lowest point about 13.5% and 64.5% when aged at 540℃.
Then both EL and RA gradually increase with further increasing of aging temperature.
As shown in Fig.3(b), the strength decreases gradually but the elongation (EL) and area reduction (RA) increase with the increasing of the test temperature.

Abstract
The effect of Ball milling parameters on the microstructure and consequently on the magnetic
properties has been studied.
Τhe allotropic transformation of cobalt induced by ball milling has been also studied by J.Y.Huang and al. [14].
In order to avoid any Fe contamination J.Y.Huang and al. [14] have used agate vial with agate balls and they concluded that milling intensity is the main factor in determining the phase transformation of cobalt during BM and not Fe contamination.
