Introduction Due to the need to design lightweight structures such as vehicle body shells and aircraft panels, some joining techniques have drawn more attention in recent years because they can join advanced metal sheets that are hard to weld [1-4].
The local stress-strain curves exhibited a drastic change at the advancing side due to a steep gradient of mechanical properties.
Results indicated that the maximum stress on the pin occurs at the contact point in the advancing direction of the pin.
